Amy McGrath, a Democrat going against Sen. Mitch McConnell, is a former Marine pilot. She collected $10.7 million in a couple of months, and that will allow her to compete against her Republican opponent.
Mark Nickolas, who works as a campaign manager for McGrath, said that Mitch McConnell never had an opponent like her. He pointed out that donations came from all 120 Kentucky counties, and that provided them with almost $11 million to beat McConnell and his allies. Nickolas believes change is about to come.
However, McGrath still raised less than McConnell. His official finance reports are still not known to the public, but they will be soon. By then, he said that in his campaign, more than $2 million dollars was raised in the third quarter of this year and that there was $9 million more.
According to her opponent’s campaign manager Kevin Golden, McGrath’s campaign was boosted by liberals from outside the state.
He said that liberals from NY and California could not stand the fact that as long as Mitch McConnell was in the Senate, Kentucky cultural values would be put to the fore. He also pointed out that liberals had the right to give her millions, but they still couldn’t vote in Kentucky.
Mike Broihier, a journalist, farmer, and retired Marine, has also joined the race in the Democratic field, alongside a growing number of other Democrats, including radio host, Matt Jones.
